12mm+ jewel grade Tahitian Black pearl, French Polynesia

This 13.18mm , jewel grade, natural colour and luster, bead cultured Tahitian Black pearl single was harvested in French Polynesia . It features good lustre , lightly blemished surface , and good nacre . Akoya pearls are harvested from the Akoya complex group composed of Pinctada fucata, imbricata and radiata species. They are grown primarily in Japan in Nagasaki, Ehime and Mie prefecture, the birth place of cultured pearls. Their population have been under threats with successive waves of mortality related to water, population and climate change impact. Natural resources, waste and impact management projects are in place to alleviate related risk and ensure Akoya pearl production and harvesting continues to thrive, making our supplier ethical.
